Dr. Joan Dalmau Arias

Doctor Dalmau holds a degree in medicine and surgery from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He completed his residency training in the Dermatology Department at the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau. He is currently a Specialty Registrar in the dermatology department of Hospital Sant Pau where he is essentially dedicated to diagnosing, managing and following-up on melanoma cases. He is a member of the Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, the International Dermoscopy Society, the European Society for Photodynamic Therapy and the Xarxa Catalana de Melanoma. Dr Dalmau is the author of the book Atlas de Dermatoscopia Práctica (Atlas of Practical Dermatoscopy). At Dermatek, he is responsible for skin cancer screening via epiluminescence microscopy. His areas of special interest are pigmented lesions (moles and freckles), skin oncology, dermatologic surgery and photodynamic therapy.

Moreover, Dr. Joan Dalmau Arias is the author of Atlas de dermatoscopia práctica (Atlas of Practical Dermatoscopy), which is of required consultation for all professionals dedicated to this procedure. Profusely illustrated with 238 sutures showing clinical and dermatoscopic images, this atlas is based on a teaching interest yet highly useful as a dissemination tool.
