General information
Dr. Francisco Castro-Domínguez is a recognized specialist in Rheumatology located at the Teknon Medical Center in Barcelona, Spain.
He holds his MD degree from the University of Santiago de Compostela. As part of his studies, he made an internship at the Humboldt University of Berlin, attending to the Charité Hospital.
Years later, he received his specialization in Rheumatology after completing his residency at the Hospital del Mar i l'Esperança in Barcelona. He performed a subspecialization in knee osteoarthritis and sports medicine at the Royal North Shore Hospital of the University of Sydney and completed his training with a Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Barcelona and a doctoral researcher fellowship at the Cartilage and Inflammation Research Unit at the Hospital del Mar d'Investigacions Mèdiques Institute.
He is currently Section Chief of Rheumatology at the Teknon Medical Center, Barcelona, and holds the position of coordinator for the Osteoarthritis Working Group of the Spanish Rheumatology Society (ARTROSER), collaborating as a researcher in several multidisciplinary projects aimed to address the knee osteoarthritis phenotypes. He also collaborates as an advisor in institutional projects related to shared decision-making and best practices for patients with knee and hip osteoarthritis.
He is a coordinator of projects such as the Spanish Rheumatology Society (SER) Osteoarthritis Annual Meeting and the Osteoarthritis Research Society International (OARSI) Annual Review. He is also a member of the Spanish Society of Rheumatology National Congress Scientific Committee, of the SER-OARSI Precision Medicine in Knee Osteoarthritis Symposium, and co-chair of the session "Remarkable Findings in Osteoarthritis Clinical Research" at The European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology (EULAR) Annual Congress.
